So it's been a busy couple of weeks for everyone. Usually this time of the year is the most stressful but also is the most productive.
The kick off the school year for us is usually Freshman Move-In Day. It's hot, nasty, and we do grunt work for 8 hours, which is always fun. In addition to that, Freshman always feel the need to bring everything they ever owned with them to their dorms. Of course they fail to realize that all their stuff won't fit in their tiny dorm room that they share with 2 other people, so they end up moving out a week later anyway.
Freshman every year also seem to have an attitude problem. Maybe they don't understand that we're volunteering, but some freshman and their parents have this ridiculous sense of entitlement. I'll have freshman give me all their stuff and then watch me bring it up, while they walk empty handed and not even say thank you.
Even with all that, it was a pretty good day. We did something great for St. John's and we met a couple of good guys who we've kept in touch with, but that's for another post. For the freshman that did appreciate it, it was worth it.
